My X-Box recently got a red ring can it be fixed or should I just trow it away?

A few freinds said it cant be fixed just trow it away and I'll have to buy a new one so I called a FEW places who repair X-BOX some said it cant be fixed others said bring it in and he could probable fix it and then other ones said they could fix it bring it in and they would see what it needed Please someone help me it is for my grandkids and living on disability I dont have the money to buy a new one THANK YOU FOR ANY RESPONCE
