Why does my 2002 Intrepid 3.5L make a knocking sound around the RF wheel when I make left turns?

Recently my car has developed a knocking sound around the right front wheel when I make left turns. I had the strut checked, and the strut mount on that side was binding, so had it replaced along with wheel alignment. Didn't solve the problem. It is not a clicking, as in CV axle or grinding, just a knocking sound. Only happens when I make left turns on uneven road surfaces.

Raising an injured baby chick alone ?

Grab point of my clutch has been getting lower and gears grind upon start up but gets better after pumping?

I have trouble getting it into gear when I first start it up in the morning but after pumping the clutch a bit it gets a lot better and doesn't grind. To make an entirely long story short I will first state that I am a 20 year old college student from Connecticut who went to purchase a used 2006 chevy cobalt ss (5 speed) from Northshore Chevrolet of Smithtown in Long Island New York. This was my first time buying a car and I had saved my hard earned money on it. The sales rep insisted that the car was in perfect shape and several mechanics had taken a look at it. I thought I could trust him but I asked him if I could get it inspected by a mechanic at home and he kind of hesitated but agreed. In any case I had the car for two days and the clutch began slipping. I've driven manual for 4 years and know that it wasn't my lack of experience. I didn't race with the car I literally owned it for 2 days. Another thing I noted was that when I parked on my hill the car would roll back even with the ebrake up. I asked around and was told that the previous owner must have been a racer because of several after market modifications including an exhaust, cold air intake, and towering strut. Also the fact he was a racer was evident because my friends informed me that ebrakes become damaged like that due to drifting and that the clutch was probably beat to the ground. I was worried about the safety of my car and life so knowing how badly the clutch was slipping i called AAA to tow it to a local GMC dealership. The mechanics checked it out and told me that not only was the clutch ruined but it damaged the flywheel and several other parts. The ebrake was completely worn and the rear brakes were gone. Also the tires were stripped bare. I called Smithtown Chevrolet back inquiring about repairs and they informed me that it was probably my driving because world class premier mechanics had checked it out blah blah blah. Anytime I tried to get answers I would get the run around. I was so fed up I started writing several complaints on their dealership and called GMC/Chevrolet HQ. I was informed that the clutch was a wear item and it couldn't be covered. Now they're trying to tell me they'll split the cost of the brakes but under the New York State Lemon Law it says that dealerships must replace faulty parts such as brakes within a time limit. My issues were almost immediately after my purchase. I am in need of some serious help please! I have called these guys about 12 times trying to get them to repair it but they will not own up. It just seems so unfair that they sold me a car that was obviously a lemon and lied about it.

The other day I had been driving for about two hours and parked my car in gear. I then started driving again and went to shift into second gear but the car wouldn't go into second, so I tried first again and it would not shift into first or any other gear. After a while it was fine and I had no further trouble until I went to start my car next, when I started the car it would jump forward and when it finally started properly I couldn't get into any other gear again but it was eventually fine again. Question regarding gear shifting on a motorcycle?

I just recently got my motorcycle license and a new bike? Quick questions in regards to gear shifting. Is it possible to hold the clutch down the entire time while shifting ( lets say your in 4th.. you need to go to 1st to slow down, can you simple hold down the clutch and click down to 1st? or do you have to let go of the clutch after each gear shift down and then grab it again?) also in regards to any turns, what gear should you be in? can you be in 3rd or 4th while in a turn or so you have to be in 2nd?

I agree with all the answers listed, but there is one that is not listed. I've owned a 1989 honda accord. Some of them have factory wheels that utilizes aerodynamics. This will increase with the speed of the vehicle. I've had this problem for a long time until I found out what was causing it. If you have these wheels then this may be your problem too. My son is refusing to eat...what can I do?

Yes it's a stage, my son did the same thing and when I was worried like you I asked my friends with kids, and ALL of their kids (all boys-dont know if that matters) went through the same thing before age 2. All you can do is keep trying but if he wont eat dont worry, he WILL eventually eat. Kids that young are not capable of knowing how to starve themselves and when he is hungry enough he will eat. Just keep trying at each meal and keep him hydrated hopefully he'll at least drink some milk. If it gets really bad and goes on for days or weeks of no eating, see his doctor to get him checked out.Good luck Oh and this stage for my son lasted about 6 months, certain days (pretty often) he just wouldnt eat anything or very little. A clutch can be damaged on a car if shifted badly overtime and not treated properly. They know because theyre car savvy and use logic. my three-wheeler has a single person, cushioned seat with no harness, a 67cc Sachs snowmobile engine with a centrifugal clutch on it, and it has a roll cage for the engine, it has a wheelie wheel on it, it does have a differential. the front of it is like any chopper you see, 2-inch pipe connecting the front to the back. the front wheels have shocks. it uses a snowmobile throttle. it does have, or is going to have, a kill switch on the handlebars, but needs a starter rope to start. it rides about a foot off the ground. the front end does have foot pegs. the handlebars are less than 30 inches above the seat. i just want to know what i have to do to it to make it street-legal in Washington.

hey everyone i have a 1995 Holden commodore vs series one manual OK sorry this is quite hard to explain recently my cars clutch has started to go so its burning out however i cannot seem to make the car move at all if the clutch has burned out on a manual car it is still possible to drive without a clutch isn't it but when i do that specific technique where you put the car in 1st gear and turn it off then turn it on and sort of quickly push the accelerator it will go but my car seems to do nothing at all example when i turn the car off and leave it in first gear and do not push the clutch down how you normal would the car does not jump forward at all just sits there like it is in neutral it starts perfectly and such just doesn't move at all in gear. People have suggested to me it could be the fly wheel or the transmission but where not quite sure P.S its a cable clutch if that helps a bit anyway thanks for anyone opinions on this sorry if it is confusing and doesn't make sense its quite hard to explain

Triumph Daytona 675 will not start......?

Yesterday, my 2008 Triumph Daytona 675 would not start for the 1st time, after push starting it and riding it for a while, it would not start again. Bought a brand new battery from the Triumph Dealership and put it in, and it still would not start. Took it to a local auto parts store and they tested and charged it, put it in and it still will not start. Dash and lights turn on fully. In Neutral, with the clutch down, when I push the starter, it makes a single click noise and a quite long squeaking noise. Any help???

Tire rubs on strut - mazda 626?

My 1997 mazda 626 previously had 18" aftermarket wheels on it when the front left got a flat. I swapped it with the spare and drove on it for a few days til I could get it fixed. When I tried to put the 18" back on the inside of the tire was rubbing against the strut. My first solution was to get smaller wheels so I went with 17" mx-6 wheels. Those wheels also had just the front right tire rubbing. The next thing I did was replace the strut, that didn't work either.

2002 Altima Firewall?

I am installing subs in my 02 Altima. I have put subs in numerous cars, yet I cant find any openings. Anyone installed subs in an 02 Altima? One guy told me to go through the wheel well into the fender into the car, one said to run it under the body of the car and drill through the trunk which sounds 100% retarded, and others said to just drill through the firewall. Its an automatic so i was going to drill where the clutch petal would belong but before i do any other ideas? All my cars Ive owned i been lucky to have a rubber boot that you can pull out to have a pre-drilled hole into my car. If you going to say drill through the fire wall any specific drill bits? Or just standard metal drill bit will do.

2000 Silverado 1500 Z71 5.3 liter get hot when idling?

I have a 2000 silverado 1500 z71 with the 5.3liter engine and just recently i noticed it get hotter when idling or around town. It normally runs at 210 but yesturday I was sitting in my driveway with the truck running and the a/c on for aout 20min, I noticed that the temp shot up the the 3/4 mark in that 20min. Then today i was driving around town and the temp was reading fine, but i stoped to get lunch and turned off the truck for about 10 min and when i got back in and started it the temp was at the 3/4 mark again but then went back down to 210, I then got to work and was moving a couple of light trailers around and it was reading right aove 210 when it normally reads right under 210. The colant is full, no dirt or anything in it, replaced the air filter 100mi ago. So could it be the thermostat, fan clutch? or what? also when the truck is off and warm the fan has no play i tried to spin it and it spun when i moved it, no grinding or anything, but it dosent spin freely, which i think is normal? Anybody have any ideas. I really need to fix this cause in a week i have to drive 500mi to texas and back, Ohh also the truck has 122,800 mi on it.

Car A/C problem. Light comes on but Compressor doesnt engage?

I have a 1991 Toyota Tercel with factory a/c. When i push the A/C button, the light comes on but the compressor doesn't engage. Now it uses a magnetic clutch to engage the a/c. The first thing the Haynes book says to check is the relay switch way the hell up under the dash. But im wondering, if the light comes on, is the relay switch still good? If the relay switch is good, then what should i check next? Thanks for any advice/ help. -Robert

Pedal doesn't sink to the floor does it? If it does, the clutch master cylinder is done. It needs a new clutch, your looking at close to 8-900 for replacement. However, labor costs vary.

I have a 2006 suzuki rmz-250 im having some trouble getting it started. it starts fine when it is cold generally 1st or 2nd kick and once you have it hot it starts fine unless you let it set for more than 10 minutes then u almost have to drift start it. the bike was just rebuilt about 3 days ago! new top end,new clutch,new air filter,new oil change, new spark plug, carb cleaned, gas tank flushed, valves shimmed and checked and timing was set back perfectly. so i know its not a mechanical problem i think its an electrical problem what could cause this? my friend said cgi box but i dont know please help i need some advice from some experienced bike mechanics any help is greatly appreciated!

Noises when steering right or left only under vehicle load and only when it's been driven a little while?

My 2003 Mazda 6 is making a grinding crunchy noise coming from the front of the car when turning the steering wheel right or left and it doesn't have to be turned far at all to make the noise. It only does it under vehicle load and it only does it after I've been driving it for a little while. We have replaced the struts & upper control arms with bushings on both right & left front. The noise is still there. At this point I'm in for $500 and next week will be in another $200 to next replace all 4 lower arm controls with bushings, front brake pads (50%), and tie rod ends on both left & right front. I can't keep playing these guessing games with the mechanic about what it COULD be, I can't afford to replace everything. Any body have any ideas as to what my problem is?

Motorcycle ride seems not so smooth?

I have an 08 Kawasaki Ninja 250r and I am fairly new to riding so I would appreciate an experienced person to let me know if this is a problem or not. While riding my bike on straight a ways at about 45+ mph I noticed the ride isn't perfectly smooth... almost a little bumpy, but the road doesn't appear bumpy or majorly uneven. I also noticed when I pull the clutch and or brake the ride seems to be nice and smooth. Is it normal to experience the a slightly bumpy ride while pulling the throttle? Average cost to replace entire clutch assembly on '99 VW Beetle?

I was wondering if anyone could tell me an average cost to replace an entire clutch assembly on a 1999 VW Beetle. I was quoted $975.00 + tax for the whole job from my regular mechanic. That price breaks down to 6 hours @ $70.00 an hour = $480.00 + $500.00 for the whole clutch assembly (5 different parts). I've used this mechanic for years and always felt he was fair, but I just bought a used Beetle, the clutch went the day after I paid for it, and now I'm questioning such a high cost for this repair. 20 amp condensor fan fuse on my 1998 honda civic blowing? Why?

This is the fuse right next to battery. I have removed both the clutch relay and condensor fan relay. Then I tried turning on car and putting ac on max then I installed clutch relay and compressor and clutch with run but low side line will not get cold and and high side will not get hot.. Nor will cold air blow inside car.. Then I installed condensor fan relay and the 20 amp condensor fan fuse blows instantly.. Have read that this fuse will blow if clutch or condensor fan is bad.. I grounded condensor fan seperately and it runs and works fine... Also I pressed the low side port where you add refrigerant and it seems to have good amount of pressure so do not think it is low on refrigerant.. Now I am just scratching my head as to what the problem is.. Can someone please help me or if you do not mind allow me to email or message you for more advice.. Thank you

Need advice and enlightenment on this unhealthy "bromance"?

My husband made a friend less than a year ago. This friend has inserted himself into every aspect of my husband's business, hanging out all day at the shop, has manipulated his way in so much that he's let him have after hours access to the whole store, our computer etc, and now has his trailer parked in the back hooked up to our utilities and even tho the police hasve told my husband the trailer has to go, he won't make him move it. Why is my 2008 Suzuki GS500F idling high?

Sorry, the details of this are a bit long. I started this project because I had backfiring through one of the carbs (it's a dual carb motor) and issues with the idle slow to return at a stop. With the high idle, if I slowly released the clutch while stopped, the idle would come back down and stay down. My first fix was re-shimming an exhaust valve which is now within specifications. After that I moved to synchronizing the carbs. At first this was a challenge because the idle was everywhere and the gauges fluctuated everywhere. Then, out of nowhere, the idle jumps to 5000 and stays there. If I put it in gear and hold the brake, as if I were stopped, the idle comes down, but jumps back up as soon as the clutch is pressed. The good thing here is that the idle is consistent enough at 5000 that I could synchronize the carbs. The bad is that I now have synched carbs and a 5k idle. I have adjusted the idle nob at the bottom, it is not even touching. The throttle cables have free play so they aren't the issue. I am confuzzled. Any ideas would be great. Thanks

Shocks and Struts! Suspension help!!?

Okay, so I'm not that much of a car person, but I've been doing some reading and now I'm confused. What exactly is the difference between a strut and a shock? I know that struts are better for your car based with handling and that they don't require you to use a upper control arm, but I've googled pictures of them and they look the same to me! Does a stock car come with shocks AND struts on it, because I've heard people refer to them as "shocks and struts" like it's ONE thing. Someone please help!!!!

okay, so when i was little my mom died. no biggie, i was 3, i dont remember her. when i was 4 my dad remarried my step mom. im 15 now. when my half sis was born 10 years ago, my step mom stopped caring about me. i know that sounds harsh, but its true. since then, ive "received" 2 half brothers. You should never hold the clutch in even if your in the manual position while your in motion it's not good on the tranny. as your coming into a corner depending on your speed which in most cases isn't gonna be ridiculously fast your should be able to put it into 2nd gear. Put the car into second right as your about to turn the corner and as soon as you put it in gear let your clutch out and accelerate through the corner you will get the best performance out of it this way.

Rpm's on my manual transmission 2000 Jetta dip when clutch is engaged.?

Here's some more details. Whenever I put the clutch in, or when i start the car, and the transmission is going down from higher to right around idle, they dip too low and then shoot back up to where they're suppose to be when the engine is idling. When that happens the engine acts as if its going to die for a second until the rpms kick back up. I don't really know what to look for or anything I could do to help this, so any suggestions will help!

Best way to trouble shoot starter issues...?

I got an old 96 Suzuki Bandit that was having starting issues. Had to work the clutch lever sometimes to get it to start. Cable clutch, not hydrolic. So I thought the problem was in the safety switch in the clutch lever. I jumped that out but it changed nothing. There is no turn over at all. I checked the kickstand and neutral safeties also. Where do I go to now? Starter switch? Battery connection to starter? When it did fire up it was solid, just had to pump the clutch a few times.

Is replacing the engine in a 98 accord too difficult for an advanced do it yourselfer?

The engine swap isn't the hard part its having the right tools to do it properly. The first thing you'll need is an engine lift, without one its really hard to even get started. They are expensive and really not worth buying for one engine swap.

Wife left house and took out TPO on me .?

Well she left the house and went to stay with her mom . Took out tpo on me . Dueing this time we where talking about her comeing home . She did come home and we lived as man and wife for 5 days before TPO was served . TPO was served and I had to leave the house that I own bought and payed for . Well now I cant talk to her and she is holding all my stuff hostage . IE Van , tools ,etc . The tpo was taken because she was trowing my clothes in the floor from my dresser . Well that's the world's biggest mooch if I ever heard of one. Think about it. Here these cats that have been getting us to give them food, water and shelter for thousands of years, and they don't even work. All they do is lay around, being all cat and stuff. They're like babies. Also little mooches, but without the entertainment. You gotta clean cat's litter box or they'll lay into you. I tried to not feed my cat one day, and it got so cat it knocked over my plant. Then it was all strutting around like, "see, you're my pet. you clean up after me." 85 ford ranger new clutch kit installed clutch slips?

just installed a brand new clutch kit in my 85 ford ranger.Slips in all the gears.When I put the transmission back on I did notice that it didn't slip in as easily as it should have.It felt like the throw-out bearing was trying to depress the fingers on the pressure plate.Now the clutch slips all the time.Could the throw-out bearing be held out because of air in the slave cylinder?This is the first time something happened like this.I know it is not the clutch kit or the flywheel or oil on the disk.Could it just need a new slave cylinder or bled.

Guinea pigs shouldn't really permanently live outside. Neither should rabbits, especially not in the winter. Guinea pigs and rabbits like the same temperature as humans so it's better to keep them indoors. Don't use sawdust for guinea pigs - use wood shavings. Sawdust can get into their lungs. I think the cage will be fine if you use those panels though. Good luck :)

Chevy colorado cooling issue?

I have had a hell of a time getting this truck cooling properly. I put in a new thermostat, that I know will open and close as I tested it before it went into the truck. This is what I did. Removed lower radiator hose to drain fluid. Removed the hose from the t-stat. Unbolt t-stat. Bolt new t-stat in place. Put a brand new radiator hose on. Filled truck up with dex-cool. Now here comes the problem. I left radiator cap off and started engine. Left the engine runnig for 30 minutes. T-stat never opens. The top radiator hose is hot. You can put your finger in the top of the radiator it is hot, however the bottom hose is not hot at all. And seeing as the bottom radiator hose is directly connected to the t-stat, it cant get hot enough to open, even though the temp gauge is over half way up. I have also installed a new water pump and fan clutch. Which I know work, cause if I take the t-stat out and put an empty housing in does the opposite and dosent get hot enough and the computer goes nuts. What the heck am i doing wrong here

It doesn't hurt. It gives you a smooth transition between gears. As for depress the clutch all the way in, you don't have too. You need to find a sweet spot where the clutch let you shift. Normally, I depress the clutch about 1/2 to 3/4 in and shifting gears. It is a lot faster shifting than depressing all the way in. One thing, you can always shift from gear to neutral without having to depress the clutch.

Should I worry about him cheating?

My husband has recently started working at a resort a few months ago, and I am concerned. Apparently, almost everyone who works here eventually cheats on their significant other. I've never worried about my husband being unfaithful, but he has started talking about some of the ladies he works with and how he jokes around with them. My horse bolts after jumps.?

I ride at a lesson stable one a week. I ride a 25 year old frisky gelding and after every cross pole he will gallop and I don't have the space to let him do that. H, I take it by not relaying a year, this is a home setup that was custom built? If so, I'd suggest you find a way to take it to a local suspension shop and have them weigh the setup, including how many will be riding in it, and they will be able to make custom springs to match up with already manufactured struts or shocks if you prefer shocks. This is what we've had to do with the many competition audio setups we have done in the past due to the weight issues in smaller vehicles with multiple and large sub setups, including the amps, batteries, and hydraulics. We've also had to do this type of setup with the mulitple 30 and 31 model A's that we have modified. All turned out great! Good luck, and what a RIDE!

From the age and that it is a Kenmore top load, I'm going to guess that it is a Whirlpool built machine. If that assumption is correct, I will suggest that the skate plate has worn enough to cause the "shake and rattle thing". The skate plate is the triangular piece of metal that the tub slides around on. It is hard to believe that a little bit of wear on the painted surface could cause the severe shaking, but, trust me, it is the case. The plate will cost around $ 65.00 or so and can be purchased from Whirlpool, Sears or any Appliance Parts retailer. It is not difficult to replace so if you have had no other issues with your machine, I would replace it. While you are at it, you may want to replace the drive coupler (motor to transmission) as it will probably be worn sufficiently to warrant replacement.
